Working Parties

The General Assembly comprises all full members and meets at least once a year (The last EFPIA Statutory General Assembly took take place in Seville on 14 May 2009). As the sovereign power of the association, the General Assembly defines the association's general policy.

The Board comprises representatives of 11 full member companies and 11 full member associations elected for a period of two years. It carries out the tasks and duties determined by the General Assembly and ensures that these are implemented by the General Management.

A Bureau of 7 Board members is entrusted to give advance opinions on items placed on the Board agenda. Where sustained high-level attention is required on a critical issue, the Board may set up a Priority Action Team chaired by a CEO of a member company.

The Board adopts EFPIA's and provides guidance for policy lines and recommendations elaborated by the 4 main Policy Committees:

  • Economic and Social Policy Committee (ESPC)
  • External Trade Policy Committee (ETPC)
  • Scientific, Technical and Regulatory Policy Committee (STRPC)
  • Intellectual Property Policy Committee (IPPC)

Ad hoc groups report to these Policy Committees.
