EFPIA Japan
EFPIA Japan, established in April 2002, is comprised of 21 European research-based pharmaceutical companies operating in Japan. We are an integral and substantial part of the Japanese pharmaceutical industry both in terms of pharmaceutical sales and R&D activities. The member companies contribute significantly to improve healthcare in Japan and our development accounting for 35% of the number of new drugs approvals in the past three years.
EFPIA Japan carries out activities through five committees (Technical - Pricing & Economics - Public Relations - Intellectual Property, Legal & Corporate Ethics - Vaccine) in order to examine, propose and educate on issues related to the pharmaceutical industry. In order to realize our aims in Japan, we aspire to a vitalization of R&D, the strengthening of international competitiveness as well as securing a predictable environment for sustainable business development.
EFPIA Japan sets the following 2010 policy objectives:
-
Expedite the access of Japanese patients to innovations
-
Acquire reward for innovation with the new pricing system
-
Pursue better balance between prevention and treatment
-
