EFPIA notes today’s publication in Politico of a leaked version of the European Commission’s Pharmaceuticals in the Environment (PIE) strategy. Together with the members of the Pharmaceuticals in the Environment Taskforce, we will respond in more detail once the strategy has been officially published by the Commission. Minimising the impact of medicines on the environment while safeguarding access to effective treatments for patients is a key issue for our industry. Eco-Pharmaco-Stewardship framework initiated by the industry supports this and takes a life-cycle approach to manage the potential environmental risks of pharmaceuticals.
