Road to Value Based Healthcare

Today, INFARMA (the Employers' Union of Innovative Pharmaceutical Companies), ICHOM (the International Consortium for Health Outcomes Measurement) and EFPIA (the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Companies and Associations) are hosting a full-day seminar in Warsaw on the role of outcomes-measurement in delivering more for patients and improving the long-term sustainability of our health systems.

Speaking on behalf of INFARMA, Bogna Cichowska-Duma, General Director, said that ‘The aim of the conference is to discuss the most important principles of VBHC and to present examples of its implementation. The next stage of the project will be the organization of in-depth workshops, during which we will want to develop specific solutions in cooperation with experts. Poland is still facing numerous organizational, legislative and systemic challenges so we believe  that our activities will intensify and improve VBHC implementation within the  Polish healthcare system’.

Speaking on behalf of ICHOM, Neil Bacon, President, for ICHOM said “Advancing the measurement of standardised health outcomes represents a critical shift towards a more efficient and effective healthcare system for patients, payers, hospitals, and providers. Our intent is to bring together stakeholders from across the healthcare community to see how we can support that shift.”

Talking about the seminar, Thomas Allvin, Executive Director Healthcare Systems at EFPIA said “We are delighted to be in Warsaw as part of a series of conversations across Europe about how to implement more outcomes-focused and value-based healthcare models, and how this approach can benefit patients, clinicians, providers, industry and payers. Driving the evolution towards outcomes-focused healthcare models requires dialogue and collaboration between all stakeholders from across the healthcare community. If we work together, we can set European healthcare systems on a new path towards a more outcomes-based and sustainable healthcare.”
